The Riva shipyard in Sarnico: an atelier outside time

The Sarnico shipyard is where the legend was born, where Riva’s wooden powerboats made history, and where the new Rivas from 27 to 68 feet are built. It’s a unique place, revered by the global boating community and regularly visited by fans and enthusiasts.

The heart of the shipyard is the office once used by Carlo Riva, who personally designed both the space and its functions. This architectural masterpiece, known as ‘La Plancia’ (the bridge), can be seen from the opposite side of the lake and is protected, like the rest of the yard, by the local environmental heritage authority.

The Ancona shipyard – the famous ‘Superyachts Division’ – occupies 76,945 square metres, of which 32,704 under cover, and is one of Europe’s largest production hubs in the yachting industry.

A Riva engineering and design team dedicated exclusively to superyachts works here in close collaboration with designer Mauro Micheli and his Officina Italiana Design.

The shipyard handles four different yacht platforms for 50, 60, 70 and 90-metre hulls respectively.
