RIVA TROPHY 2013 From Portofino to the Gulf of the Poets

The sixth edition of the prestigious Riva Trophy, the annual event celebrating the Riva brand in the most exclusive locations all over the world, was held from 14th to 16th June 2013 against the marvellous setting of the Ligurian Coast. This year the Riva Trophy – organised by the Monaco-based dealer Monaco Boat Service and Rapallo Porto Carlo Riva, in cooperation with the historic Italian dealer Nautica Casarola – took place along the magnificent Ligurian coast, between the 5 Terre, Portofino and Rapallo, where Porto Carlo Riva hosted the 21 wonderful yachts that participated in the event. Three days of style, elegance and jet-set events, offering the opportunity to admire models from the current range as well as the legendary wooden yachts that made Riva famous all over the world. Ariston, Aquarama, Saint Tropez, Sportfisherman 25’, Bahamas e Dolce Vita next to Aquariva Super, Rivarama, 86’ Domino and 92’ Duchessa were the true protagonists of these very special days, characterised by a very intense schedule: from the Rapallo – Vernazza – Rapallo crossing, which culminated with a gala party pervaded by the typical Dolce Vita atmosphere in Portofino, to the “Contest of Elegance” held in front of the terrace of the prestigious Rapallo Yacht Club, which also hosted the exclusive dinner on Saturday night. Outstanding partner of the event was Vhenier, which shares with Riva the love for a craftsmanship that deepens its roots in traditions while always looking ahead at the future. Vhenier’s haute jewellery creations, designed exclusively for Riva, were presented during a special show on the Portofino piazzetta. Another prestigious partner was Charles Heidsieck, a champagne that has always been considered by sector critics as the first choice of true connoisseurs. Tradition, experience and excellence are the values shared by the two brands. And, since moments of joy and celebrations are the synonym of champagne, there is no more appropriate motto than the one created by Charles-Camille Heidsieck: «the exception deserves the exceptional». During the event the Book devoted to Riva’s 170th Anniversary was also introduced, in the presence of Riccardo Sassoli, the publisher and editor of this volume that tells about Riva's “soul” through a collection of pictures and interviews. Monaco Boat Service
Carlo Riva was the first in Italy to understand that the excellence of his products required equally excellent services. Starting in the 1950s and until 1970 an incredibly large number of customer care centres opened both in Italy and abroad. The opening of the Monaco Boat Service, on 25th August 1959, marked the beginning of Riva’s expansion to the Cote d’Azur, one of the most important and prestigious meeting points for international yacht owners. Riva Boat Service centres, devoted to the sale, summer service, repair, and winter storage of all Riva yachts, became a symbol of outstanding quality and service, as well as of prestige. The service station is located within the marina of Monaco and features large boat storage halls, a mechanical workshop, carpentry and upholstery workshops, davits and cranes, pontoons and quays, spare parts and qualified personnel at the users' service.
